Made With Purpose, Not Excess

At Northroot, we believe quality should never come at the cost of the planet. That’s why every product we offer is made to order. Nothing is created until you choose it. No shelves piled high, no stock gathering dust, and no excess ending up in landfill.

The fashion industry has a long-standing problem with overproduction—millions of garments manufactured every year that are never worn. We’ve chosen a different path. By working with trusted on-demand partners, we only produce what’s needed, when it’s needed.

Our printing process uses cutting-edge technology designed to minimize waste and reduce energy consumption. Nearly zero water is wasted, and each item is crafted with intention from the moment you click ‘buy’. It’s a quieter, cleaner way of doing things—one step closer to getting it right.

To take that impact further, the majority of our orders are fulfilled in the same region they’re delivered. That means less shipping time, lower emissions, and a smaller carbon footprint with every order. Our fulfillment partners operate out of:

Birmingham, UK
Barcelona, Spain
Riga, Latvia
Toronto, Canada
Charlotte, NC
Dallas, TX
Tijuana, Mexico
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Melbourne, Australia
Brisbane, Australia
Amakusa, Japan

This distributed model not only supports efficiency and reliability—it’s better for the planet too.

Materials That Matter

Stanley/Stella Products

Our products start with the most important ingredient of all: the materials. We use certified organic cotton garments from Stanley/Stella — leaders in sustainable apparel production — chosen for their quality, comfort, and integrity.

Stanley/Stella's supply chain is built on traceability, transparency, and trust. Every Stanley/Stella t-shirt we print on is made from 100% organic cotton, certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the Organic Content Standard (OCS), with additional OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification for safety and skin-friendliness. These garments are also PETA-Approved Vegan.

From cotton fields in Turkey and Tanzania to manufacturing in audited facilities in Bangladesh, every step of the process is carefully monitored. The cotton is non-GMO, the dyeing is free from harmful chemicals, and every factory partner meets strict wastewater treatment and chemical management standards.

But Stanley/Stella doesn’t stop at certifications. Their teams conduct field visits to farms and factories, test raw materials, and work directly with cotton growers to uphold ethical practices. And with an ambitious goal to reduce carbon emissions per product by 30% by 2030, they’re actively investing in a lower-impact future.

By choosing garments made this way, we’re not just offering better products—we’re supporting better systems.

Conscious Color

Our Comfort Colors® garments bring a different kind of energy to the Northroot offering — relaxed, sun-washed tones with a heavyweight structure and lived-in comfort. But beneath the surface, these tees tell a story of conscious craftsmanship.

Comfort Colors® products are made using the proprietary Pigment Pure™ dye process — a method inspired by nature, and created to respect it. Compared to conventional dyeing, it uses three times less water, takes 40% less processing time, consumes less energy, and eliminates the need for salt. The result? Earth-friendly color that doesn’t cost the Earth.

From fiber to final stitch, Comfort Colors manages nearly the entire supply chain in-house — allowing full control over environmental impact and ethical practices. The cotton is responsibly sourced, the factories are energy-aware, and the people behind the product are treated with the dignity they deserve.

The Unisex Garment-Dyed Heavyweight Tee (Comfort Colors 1717) is made with 100% ring-spun cotton — soft, breathable, and built to last. Every shirt is garment-dyed and pre-shrunk for a relaxed fit that looks and feels right from day one.

It’s apparel that feels good in more ways than one.

Thoughtful Packaging

A premium product deserves packaging that protects it — without harming the planet. That’s why all Northroot orders are shipped in packaging designed to minimize environmental impact, using responsibly sourced or recycled materials whenever possible.

The majority of our apparel is shipped in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers — packaging made from items like discarded shopping bags and wrapping film. These materials get a second life, helping to keep plastic waste out of landfill and oceans.

Here’s how it works:

Apparel items are first placed in transparent bags (made from at least 30% PCR) to protect the garments. They’re then packaged in exterior mailers made from at least 50–90% PCR plastic, depending on fulfillment location. In North America, we’ve already made the switch to 90–100% PCR plastic mailers

Where appropriate, kraft mailers and cardboard boxes are used — both of which are recyclable through regular paper recycling streams. Some plastic packaging (LDPE, code #4) may require designated recycling drop-offs, so we encourage checking with your local facilities for guidance.

We’re continuously working with our fulfillment partners to explore greener alternatives and reduce unnecessary materials — because packaging should protect the planet too, not just the product.

One Order, One Tree

Nature Restored, With Every Purchase

Every order placed at Northroot plants a tree through our reforestation partners — because we believe giving back to nature should be as routine as receiving from it.

We’ve partnered with EarthLungs Reforestation Foundation and veritree via thegoodapi.com to support verified, high-impact restoration projects in Kenya and beyond. These initiatives are more than just tree planting — they are about rebuilding ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and empowering local communities to steward the land.

Why It Matters

The climate crisis is deeply connected to deforestation and habitat loss. But reforestation, when done right, has the power to restore balance. The trees planted through your orders are carefully chosen for the ecosystems they serve:

Mangroves grow along coastlines, creating natural barriers to storms and storing up to 10x more carbon than land-based forests.

Agroforestry systems integrate trees, crops, and sometimes animals to create sustainable land-use models that support both nature and local livelihoods.

Interior Douglas-fir forests are replanted after severe wildfires to prevent permanent loss of these unique forest habitats.

Kelp forests are restored along coastal waters to support marine biodiversity and sequester carbon, helping counteract ocean degradation.

Each tree is verified. Each restoration effort is tracked.
And each contribution you make is real — not just promised, but planted.

Our Tree-Planting Partners

EarthLungs works directly with community forest associations in Kenya to restore degraded public forest land into thriving native ecosystems. Their mission blends field expertise with conservation passion to revive natural habitats and create long-term ecological health.

veritree provides the technology backbone — verifying, measuring, and monitoring each project to ensure integrity, transparency, and measurable climate benefit. Together, they ensure every dollar has a direct, traceable impact on the planet.

This is not just about planting trees. It’s about investing in the ecosystems that sustain life — including ours.
